Welcome to From Ashes to Beauty

Hi, I’m Kristina. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m a wife, mom, stepmom, and follower of Jesus living in Alberta, Canada. I created From Ashes to Beauty to share honest reflections on faith, family, healing, and the hope God brings through every season of life.

My story includes joy, loss, unanswered questions, new beginnings, and plenty of ordinary days. Through it all, God has been faithful. As I share what I’m learning, my hope is that you’ll feel encouraged, understood, and reminded that you’re not walking alone.

A little about me

I married my husband, Randy, in January 2026, and we’re building a life together with our blended family. I’m mom to three boys and stepmom to two children. Between us, our children range from young men to junior high and elementary school ages, so we’re navigating many stages of family life at once. Our dog, Everest, is part of the family too.

I’m the oldest of eight children, and three of my siblings were adopted from Haiti. One of my sisters passed away in May 2018, and her life and loss remain important parts of our family’s story.

Haiti is also woven into my own story. I volunteered in an orphanage there from 2001 to 2003, later lived there from 2012 to 2016, and my youngest son was born there. I’ve always loved caring for children, from running a day home to serving in children’s ministry at church.

Today, I work in office management and am building my business, Cornerstone Administrative Solutions. I enjoy organizing, creating, and finding practical ways to help people, while also making room for family, friendships, ministry, rest, and the things that bring me joy.

The heart behind From Ashes to Beauty

The name of this blog is inspired by Isaiah 61:3 and its picture of beauty in place of ashes.

Ashes can represent loss, disappointment, broken expectations, and seasons that leave us wondering how to move forward. I’ve known seasons of grief, confusion, and weariness. I haven’t always understood what God was doing, but I’ve seen His faithfulness through the waiting, the tears, and the small steps forward.

I believe God can bring new life and purpose to places where we struggle to see either. Healing can take time, and some questions remain unanswered. Still, we can bring our grief and uncertainty to Him and find hope in Jesus.

That’s what I want this space to hold: honest reflections on difficult seasons, alongside reminders of who God is and the grace He offers us.

What you’ll find here

I’ll share personal stories, reflections on Scripture, and encouragement for faith in everyday life. We’ll talk about trusting God through uncertainty, disappointment, and waiting, as well as motherhood, family, healing, identity in Christ, and beginning again.

I also want to notice God’s goodness in ordinary days—the moments of gratitude, the lessons we learn, and the ways He cares for us as we go about our lives.

My Christian faith is central to who I am. I love Scripture, and the ESV is my favourite Bible translation. Two words that mean a great deal to me are beloved and redeemed. I have them tattooed on my arms as reminders of God’s love and grace through Jesus.

My hope is that this becomes a place where you can pause, reflect, and find encouragement rooted in God’s Word. As I share my story, I want to keep pointing back to the One who has carried me through it.

I’m glad you’re here

Maybe you’re walking through a hard season, beginning again, or simply looking for encouragement in your faith.

You’re welcome here.

I hope something you read helps you draw closer to Jesus, remember His faithfulness, and take your next step with hope.

With love,
Kristina
